A seemingly impenetrable
black safe had confounded professional code crackers
from MIT and the federal government and survived
years of neglect along Astoria's industrial
waterfront.
But it couldn't keep out
Longview locksmith Tom Gorham.
In two and a half hours,
the owner of Lock Doc this week cracked open the
one-ton, 159-year-old safe, revealing its contents
for the first time in decades.
